This is Allie’s first show with Goochland Community Theatre and we are so lucky to have her. Allie has a natural talent for comedic timing that brings the character of Mina to life on stage. You’re in for a real treat when you come to see DRACULA: Comedy of Terrors, and bear witness to all the shenanigans that Allie has created with Mina.
What’s challenging about bringing this script to life?
Well, we haven’t gotten any good lightning storms lately, which makes reanimating anything rather impossible. Oh, but this is Dracula, not Frankenstein. Still, comedy this big and outrageous demands a lot of energy and focus, like a bolt of electricity.
Why did you want to be involved in this production?
I grew up enjoying classic monster movies and horror novels, then I fell in love with ridiculous spoofy comedies when I started acting as a teenager. So, me and a show like this are a match made in hell.
Who should not come see this show?
Anyone with a phobia of bats, spiders, beetles, the Beatles, sock puppets, food that’s gluten-free, bad British accents, leeches and tapeworms, and/or the dark.
How is this character like you? How is this character different from you?
Mina is a sweet girl that just wants to love and be loved. I relate to that. She’s also really, really, really annoying. Whether that’s like me or different from me is up to my friends and loved ones to judge.
Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue?
“I sent for Doctor Jhhhon Van Helsing. As in, Jhhhon Valjhhhon.”
If you could play any other character in this show, who would it be?
Dracula himself, of course. Why would I ever turn down the opportunity to swoosh around a big cape and jump out of windows?
What will the audience be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?
“Man, what an amazing show! I laughed, I cried, I felt so many emotions! Say, it left me feeling peckish, though. I could really go for…a bite to eat. Rare steak, maybe? Black pudding?”
