Actor Interview – Lindsey June

Lindsey brings her immense stage talent to us for the first time! She portrays Lucy, Jonathan Harker’s betrothed and brings this character to life so well. Another actor with a knack for comedic timing, she’s sure to make you laugh during the course of DRACULA: Comedy of Terrors.

What sort of person is going to love this show?
As a campy horror fan myself, I think anyone who loves that type of movie or tv show or just a good laugh will enjoy this show. Or those who embrace a modern, updated parody on an old classic!

Why did you want to be involved in this production?
I heard a lot about the off-Broadway production and how much of a smashing hit it was, putting people in stitches and it’s the type of show that’s right up my alley in terms of British, the flair of spooky, a wide range of comedy, and a good old vampire tale. Plus, I’ve never worked with Goochland Community Theatre before and it was recommended to me by a previous co-star of mine in another organization’s production – thanks Matt!

Who should not come see this show?
This is certainly not kid friendly, definitely an excuse to leave the little ones at home for an entertaining date night out!

How is this production bringing something new to this story?
The creativity behind adapting some of the stage directions and technical aspects of the show we’re limited to in budget. There’s a lot of talent and skill in bringing to life a show like this within means to still have those fantastical and hilarious elements.

What’s going to surprise people about this show?
While originally this show has a smaller set of actors than we do, there’s still a few folks playing multiple characters and the quickness and drasticness in switching will be unexpected.

How is this character like you? How is this character different from you?
Lucy and I are fairly similar in her ways of curiosity, a sense of adventure and daring, her devotion to loved ones, and her feminist or feisty attitude (albeit slight). In differences though, she’s much more proper than me even if she isn’t adverse to getting her hands dirty a bit or a little bit of a traditionalist. And I don’t know, I don’t think I would mind all that much being a vampire given the option 😀!

What’s the biggest challenge about taking on this role?
It’s never not the accent!

Besides yourself, what celebrity would you like to see tackle this character?
For some reason, Lucy feels right up Margot Robbie’s alley to me but that could just be because I recently watched her Hot Ones interview, hah! But to me, she exudes that blonde ingénue energy with the added and more complex sense of wonder, some spicy desire, and yearning for more of a journey to life that Whitby may or may not bring.

Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue?
It’s a tie between: “I want to introduce you to my cousins Mary and Shelly.” and “Well isn’t that a refreshing quality in a man.”

If you could play any other character in this show, who would it be?
Honestly I think it would be Dracula, I’d love to have a ball with that role and always love a gender bending moment! Not to mention, who doesn’t love to play the villain every now and then?

What will the audience be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?
If that bug bite really is just that or is it…something else?

Why should audiences be excited for this show?
To keep the Halloween vibes going well into the holiday season! And who could say no to more smiles and laughters during the holiday season? I think that’s what we all need right about now.
