Actor Interview – Teddy Mascolo

Tell us a little about you!

I grew up in Chesterfield County VA. I’ve always loved to sing and perform and love to explore different ways of being creative in the world of the Arts. I did as many school plays as I possibly could. Today since graduation and moving into the real world, I’ve been in so many shows in both community and professional level theatre throughout Central VA. I have also done some work in Theme Park entertainment. When I am not performing. I work a day job at Build A Bear Workshop. In my free time I like to enjoy spending time with friends and family. Some of my hobbies include making runs to Taco Bell, shopping, occasional video games, reading books, writing/journaling, and supporting the local performing and visual arts scene.

Why did you want to be involved in this production?

Well that is actually a 2 part answer. First, I have had the privilege of performing in The Addams Family with Broken Leg Theatre and also Festival of the Arts and Dogwood Dell. I loved it each time I did it and was such a fun show and story to tell. So how could I resist auditioning a 3rd time for Goochland Community Theatre. Second, I really wanted to check out GCT. This is my first show with this group and I like to explore what all the Central VA Theatre companies have to offer. So far its been a very welcoming group of people.

Who is your favorite Addams family member and why?

Oh boy haha!! I don’t want to pick favorites, but if I had to choose. Aside from the one my portraying myself. I would probably be “Thing”!! Because who doesn’t love a living hand without a body, right? haha.

How is this production bringing something new to the show?

I want to say the size of the stage we are using. Its a little bit smaller then the ones I previously did Addams Family with. I’m very curious to see the ideas they have for this particular venue. It’s going be awesome!

How is your character like you? How is he different.

I can relate to Gomez in a lot of different ways. Aside from being ruggedly handsome haha. He not afraid to be himself and he really cares, values, and loves is family unconditionally. I of course value my family and do what ever I can to have a good relationship with all my family members. One thing that makes Gomez and I different I don’t wear suites everyday haha. It can get a little warm wearing suites all the time haha.

What do you love about your character?

I love his unconditional love to his family.

What do you hate about your character?

I hate when he lets himself get pulled into situations where he has to choose between people in his family. Although it is actually pretty funny.

This show is a comedy and has amazing one liners. But what is the funniest thing to happen during rehearsals offstage?

That has yet to happen during this process but i promise we will try to get it on film and post it on the social media page so you can see.

If you could play “The Game” what would you disclose?

When I was a teenager. I use to dance to Ricky Martin music and pretend I’m married to him. Boy does that feel good to shout it out loud! Full Disclosure!!

What is your favorite song to perform in the show, and why?

“Full Disclosure”!! Because of how humorous it is. Also, I like how it gives you the whole “BUSTED” feeling because thats when the whole truth comes out.

What is your favorite scary movie?

The Conjuring trilogy.

What is your favorite Halloween memory?

My first Halloween in 1995. I was dressed like a cute jack-o’-lantern. Since I was less than a year old at the time, I only remember it from pictures haha.
